Tumor Suppressor

p53

p53 is found mutated in more than 50% of human cancers. Its familial syndrome is the Li-Fraumeni Syndrome. p53 is found on chromosome 17p13.1 and has a crucial role in regulating the cell cycle and mediating apoptosis when the cell is beyond repair. Mutated p53 equals a very aggressive tumor.
