PTEN is a phosphoinositide 3-phosphatase and protein tyrosine phosphatase, found on chromosome 10q23.3. It is found mutated in Cowdens syndrome, but sporadically mutated in many cancers, including breast cancer, thyroid cancer and gliomas.
